The
Band
Them
Eastport Oyster Boys enjoy the fine musicianship
of several of their friends who often play together
as the Oyster Boys Big Band. And the Big Band really
rocks!
The
Big Band includes Tom Guay on hammer
dulcimer and electric guitar, Randy Neilson
on accordion, Andy Fegley on trombone,
Pete Miller on bass, and Keith
Manuel on percussion. The newest member
of the Big Band is keyboardist Mike Lange.
<<
Mike is caught here aboard his good boat, Lil'
Leroy, wearing a good hat, of course.
Our
friend, Cousin Randy Neilson,
composed the beautiful Thomas Point Light Suite
especially for the CD Thomas Point Light,
a compendium of folk, classical and traditional
music inspired by the Chesapeake Bay and the Thomas
Point Shoal Lighthouse. It is the first CD of the
Chesapeake
Music Institute and was created to benefit the Annapolis
Maritime Museum. The CD features the Bay region's
top musicians and singer/songwriters... including
us!
Randy,
like all the musicians on this album, donated all
current and future proceeds of his work to the Museum.
<<
Here's Randy on his "yacht," the Good
Boat.
<<
We haven't been able to get a shot of Pete Miller
on his Good Boat, so here he is on his Good Bass
instead.
And
below is Andy Fegley (also known as Captain Volume) -- wailing on the trombone.

An
Irish Christmas on the Eastern Shore
In
December 2005 we played the historic Avalon Theatre
in Easton, Maryland, with our buddy Seamus Kennedy
(left, below). The lassies of the Kevin Broesler
School of Irish Dance (right, below) were part of
the Avalon's Celtic Christmas shows as well. |

Seems like Them Boys are always looking
for a way back to the Maritime Republic,
even in a cool place like Estonia.

On
Saturday,
July 3, 2004, we played at the 2004
Smithsonian Folklife Festival, on the National Mall,
in Washington, DC. We
had a ball. Getting to hear music from around the world
and meet some of the performers was terrific! Thanks to
Vince Wilding for some great pics! See
the photos...
We
played
as part of the Water Ways section of the festival -- Water
Ways: Mid-Atlantic Maritime Communities celebrates the coastal
region stretching from Long Island, New York, through New
Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia to the Outer Banks
of North Carolina. Maritime workers and artisans from 15
communities in these states came together to demonstrate
their skills and share their stories.
We
performed twice then we joined our friends and fellow Chesapeake
troubadours, Janie Meneely, Bob Zentz and Tom Wisner for
an end-of-day Chesapeake Jam Session. |

We
introduced our new CD, Full Moon Cruisin' on
July 13, 2003, at the King of France Tavern in the
Maryland Inn, to a full house of friends and fans. ›
